Job requirements

English, Japanese

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.

First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate; Personal Support Worker Certificate; Health Care Aide Certificate are an asset.
Dementia training is an asset.

You will have: (a) At least one year of hands-on, personal care experience within the past three years, or (b) Life experience in which similar skills were used to carry out similar duties.

Specific Skills
Perform physical tasks described in the Care Plan such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping duties.
Understand best practices dealing with infection control and fall prevention. Observe changes in client condition. Respond to emergencies, safety concerns, and incidents according to protocol.
Perform administrative tasks such as documenting activity in a log book, reporting hours using a computer, and communicating verbally with the supervisor.

Additional Skills
Preference will be given to those who have experienced Japanese culture and also can cook Japanese meals.

Weight Handling
Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Target Audience

Security and Safety
You will prove, submit to, or get: a valid driver's licence, a medical exam, a criminal record check, a reference check.

Work Site Environment
Assist seniors live independently at home.

Transportation/Travel Information
Willing to travel overnight, public transportation is available.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Combination of sitting, standing, walking; bending, lifting.

Work Location Information
Client's home in an urban area. Non-smoking.
