Registered Clinical Counsellor
1 Year Term Contract I Open until Filled
Tl'azt'en Nation is seeking a dynamic individual to engage our community in positive health and wellness activities through best practices and clinical health indicators that reflect the social determinates of health. The successful candidate will be a key member of our clinical health team. We are seeking Clinical Counsellor with a focus on evidence based therapies with the utmost in client-centered care with a focus on family. The ideal candidate is motivated, a self-starter, strong planner, community minded, team oriented ready to step up and provide excellence in service to our community. In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of the Nation and the directive of Community Health Services (CHS), client safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at CHS, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the inter-professional team to provide health care services to clients with physical and/or mental health, substance dependence, concurrent disorder and chronic disease.- Assessing a client's needs, abilities or behaviour using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behaviour;- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside lawyers, doctors, nurses, social workers, education professionals, health visitors, psychiatrists and occupational therapists;- Devising and monitoring appropriate treatment programs, including therapy, counselling or advice, in collaboration with colleagues;
- Offering therapy and treatments for difficulties relating to mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behaviour; - Developing and evaluating service provision for clients;- Providing consultation to other professions, encouraging a psychological approach in their work; - Counselling and supporting;- Carrying out applied research, adding to the evidence base of practice in a variety of healthcare settings.- Adheres to all Nation policies, procedures and is an ambassador for the Community Health Services Team.- Work Schedule Tuesday-Saturday with the expectation of evening work.
Qualifications
- Must have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited university.- Must be registered with one of the following professional associations: CCPA (formerly CCA), BCACC, or hold designation of RCSW and be registered with a professional association of Social Workers.- Must have proof of current professional general liability insurance and criminal record check.- Must have at least 3 years of experience delivering supervised clinical counselling services related to addiction, mental health issues, family conflict, relationship issues, and other various issues.
- Experience working in First Nation Community is an asset; - Must have a Class 5 driver's license with business insurance.- Thorough knowledge of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused- Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and other therapeutic modalities. - Any other relevant certifications
