Public Works Supervisor
The Village of Hythe
is now accepting applications for the position of Public Works Supervisor. This is a full time year-round position, working 40.0 hours a week Monday to Friday. Some training will be provided. Reporting to the CAO, the Supervisor oversees two other PW staff members, plus temporary workers in the summer months.
The public works department is responsible for:
- Road network infrastructure - Public sidewalk infrastructure - Water Distribution Infrastructure - Wastewater collection infrastructure - Fleet maintenance & equipment maintenance - Facilities maintenance

The Village offers a team-orientated work environment, a good benefits plan, and the Local Authorities Pension Plan, (following successful completion of a probation period.) This position is working position and the successful candidate will be expected to take a hands-on role. Applicants should be willing to seek provincial certification as a Level One Water and Sewer Operator, and be willing to obtain a Class 3 drivers' license. Applicants must provide a five-year driver's abstract and meet other prequalifications.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: 1. Strong management and interpersonal skills. 2. Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction. 3. The ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines. 4. Ability to meet Occupational Health and Safety Requirements
Some evening and weekend standby is required. Overtime may be required during busy periods. Due to job-related requirements, preference will be given to candidates living in or near Hythe. Applicants will be required to undertake testing regarding their physical abilities.
